Saturday’s KNEB Home & Garden Expo was a great event!

I appreciated the opportunity to have a booth and meet people from across Scotts Bluff County. Our community is full of good people—people with honest concerns, solid values, and a strong desire to see this area thrive.
At the booth, I asked a simple question: What matters most?
The top concern was Property Rights, which is also my top priority.
Close behind were Transparent Government, Agriculture & Business, and a tie between Fiscal Responsibility and Roads & Bridges. Many people felt strongly about more than one issue.
What I heard again and again was this:
It’s time for a change.
I agree.
I’ve never had political aspirations. My approach has always been simple—find where I’m needed, understand how I can serve, and then step in.
That’s how this began.
After reading a KNEB article about Scotts Bluff County Tourism Director Brenda Leisy, I had concerns. I started attending county commissioner meetings as a citizen. What I saw led me to keep showing up. Over the past year, I’ve attended as many meetings as possible. When it came time to file, I decided to be part of the change.
So what does that change look like?
We need at least three sensible, independent thinkers on the commission—because three votes make a quorum. When decisions are made thoughtfully and independently, the county can move forward in a healthier direction.
When the same group votes the same way every time, regardless of the issue, that raises questions. I’m running to bring an independent voice to the table.
That means:
I will come prepared
I will read every word of the packet before meetings
I will ask questions and do the work ahead of time
I will engage in discussion
And when I vote, I will explain why.
You may not always agree with every decision—and that’s fair. These are not always easy calls. But you will know how and why I arrived at mine. That is transparency.
I was asked thoughtful, sometimes tough questions at the expo. I appreciated every one of them. This work requires listening, explaining, and engaging.
I will do my best to:
Communicate clearly
Share important topics before meetings
Invite input from the public
Encourage people to attend and participate
Scotts Bluff County has a lot to offer. Moving it forward takes people who stay informed, speak up, and stay involved.
If you have a question or something you’d like to share, reach out. I welcome the conversation.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by the booth—I enjoyed meeting you.
And a special thank you to my mother, Nina Betz, for making her legendary brownies. They were a hit.
